Zenica-Doboj Canton approves landslide remediation funds

The Zenica-Doboj Canton Civil Protection Headquarters (KŠCZ) has approved funding for landslide remediation projects in Zavidovići and Olovo. For Zavidovići, the headquarters approved 70,000 KM to supplement 220,000 KM provided by the city administration for a total project value of 290,000 KM. Olovo has been granted 30,000 KM for the remediation of a landslide and a local water reservoir. These decisions await final confirmation from the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton.

Džavid Aličić, Director of the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration, also detailed a new financing model for the canton's Airbus helicopter, which was purchased for 8.2 million KM. While helicopter deployment will be free for municipalities within the canton for firefighting and emergency evacuations, local government units will be required to share annual maintenance costs based on their budget size, population, and land area. Agreements are being prepared to allow the helicopter to assist other cantons within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
