Zenica Steelworks site planned for data center and AI hub
Plans are underway to transform the former Zenica Steelworks site into a digital-innovation complex. The proposed project aims to house a data center, a supercomputer, and infrastructure dedicated to the development of artificial intelligence.
The complex is envisioned to include space for technology companies, startups, and a scientific-technological and educational center. The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has secured funding for a feasibility study, which will be conducted by the international consulting firm Arthur D. Little. This study will assess technical, energy, financial, market, and legal requirements.
The project is expected to be developed in phases, with a technical concept for a modular Tier III data center. In a long-term scenario, the total capacity of the complex could reach up to 100 megawatts, depending on the results of the feasibility study and future demand.
