Zenica to host celebrations for Zenica-Doboj Canton Day

Zenica will host several events on August 29 to mark the Day of the Zenica-Doboj Canton. The celebrations commemorate the 1189 charter issued by Ban Kulin to the Ragusan prince, a document recognized as a confirmation of Bosnian statehood.

Activities include a formal session of the Assembly where public recognitions will be awarded. Former President of Croatia Ivo Josipović will be named an honorary citizen of the canton and receive the Canton Charter. Other recipients of the Canton Plaque include the Alija Izetbegović Museum in Sarajevo, Ivica Šarić, Mirsada Hukić, and several individuals and educational institutions.

The commemoration will also feature a ceremony at the ‘Kameni spavač’ monument to honor fallen defenders, followed by a formal academy and a gala concert of sevdalinka music at the Bosniak National Theatre.
