Zenit makes counter‑offer for Fluminense defender Nino

Russian club Zenit has submitted a counter‑proposal to Brazilian side Fluminense for centre‑back Nino. The Russian side is seeking a higher transfer fee and a shorter payment schedule, while Fluminense prefers a longer‑term payment plan.

Zenit’s Brazilian assistant coach William de Oliveira told ESPN Brasil that Nino is “essential” to the team and that no negotiations are underway to release him. Nino’s contract runs until June 2028, and Zenit paid roughly €5 million to acquire him in January 2024. Fluminense remains the club’s top priority for a defensive signing, but the deal is complicated by the payment terms and Zenit’s reluctance to part with the player. Palmeiras has also shown interest, though its pursuit has waned after signing defender Alexander Barboza.
