Zenita Group announces intent to start collective redundancy procedures
Zenita Group has announced its intention to initiate collective redundancy procedures under Law 223/1991. While the company maintains that the procedure is a necessary step to comply with regulatory frameworks regarding personnel transfers and is not currently intended to result in actual layoffs, labor unions have expressed strong opposition.
Trade unions Fim, Fiom, and Uilm have collectively requested that the company delay the start of the procedure to allow for further negotiations. They argue that the formal opening of such a procedure is a significant act that cannot be treated as a mere technicality.
Following discussions, the company postponed the start date from August 18 to August 25. Further meetings between the company and the union coordination are scheduled for early September, including a session at the Unione degli Industriali di Roma on September 2. The unions have also called for the relevant Ministry to convene a meeting to address the industrial and employment implications of the situation.
