Zenith Bank named Africa’s Best Bank and Nigeria’s Top Bank at Euromoney Awards 2026

Zenith Bank Plc was awarded both “Africa’s Best Bank” and “Nigeria’s Best Bank” at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, presented on 16 July 2026 at The Peninsula London Hotel. The bank’s Group Managing Director and CEO, Adaora Umeoji, credited strong financial performance, digital innovation and regulatory support for the dual honour.

Other Nigerian and Ghanaian banks also received recognitions at the same ceremony. Access Bank Ghana secured the “Best Bank for SMEs” and “Best Bank for Consumer Lending” awards, highlighting its SME‑focused products and partnerships. United Bank for Africa (UBA) was named Nigeria’s Best Retail Bank and Best ESG Bank, praised for a green‑financing facility, a ₦5 billion women‑business programme and a net‑zero 2050 pledge. Wema Bank earned the “Nigeria’s Best Digital Bank for Consumers” award for its ALAT platform and data‑driven digital services.

The awards, drawn from more than 770 entries worldwide, underscore the growing emphasis on digital transformation, sustainability and SME support within Africa’s banking sector.
