Zepto raises minimum order value for free delivery to ₹199
Quick-commerce platform Zepto has increased its minimum order value (MOV) for free delivery from ₹149 to ₹199. During periods of high demand, this threshold may rise further to ₹299. This adjustment aligns Zepto’s policy with major competitors such as Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart.
The strategic move is intended to improve unit economics and boost average basket sizes. By raising the threshold, the company aims to optimize contribution economics on smaller orders and reduce the impact of packaging and delivery costs. Analysts suggest this could also be an effort to reduce quarterly burn.
This shift follows similar pricing adjustments in the broader delivery sector. Earlier this year, food delivery platforms Zomato and Swiggy implemented increases to their platform fees. While the higher thresholds may improve profitability, they could impact customers who rely on the service for small, urgent purchases.
