Zero A. D. : The Birth of Christ trailer reveals spiritual thriller approach

A new trailer has been released for “Zero A. D. : The Birth of Christ,” a cinematic production from Angel Studios directed by Alejandro Monteverde. Described as a spiritual thriller, the film focuses on the tension and pursuit surrounding the birth of Jesus.

The narrative centers on King Herod of Judea, played by Jim Caviezel, who feels his reign is threatened by the prophecy of a new king. This leads to the massacre of the firstborn boys in Bethlehem, forcing Mary and Joseph to flee to protect the child.

The cast includes Deva Cassel as Mary, Jamie Ward as Joseph, Sam Worthington as Antipater (Herod’s son), and Gael García Bernal as Joachim. Notably, Jim Caviezel, who previously portrayed Jesus in “The Passion of the Christ,” takes on the role of the antagonist, Herod. The film is scheduled for release in US theaters on December 11, 2026.
