Zero Motorcycles sets electric motorcycle range world record
Belgian rider Jelle Verstaen has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled by an electric motorcycle on a single charge, covering 436.5 kilometers. The feat was achieved using a production-model Zero DS equipped with an optional Power Tank accessory, which increased the total battery capacity from 15.6 kWh to 19.2 kWh.
The record-breaking journey took place on public roads, traveling from the French Alps toward the Mediterranean coast. To maximize efficiency, the team utilized secondary roads, night riding to avoid traffic, and maintained a steady average speed of approximately 52 km/h. The route also leveraged downhill sections to utilize regenerative braking.
Verstaen significantly surpassed the previous record of 310.689 kilometers. Other Zero Motorcycles models participating in the test also exceeded the old record, with the DSR/X reaching 384 kilometers and the SR/S reaching 350 kilometers. The achievement was independently verified by Guinness World Records officials.
