Zero Waste Foundation hosts art competition awards and exhibition

The Zero Waste Foundation, in collaboration with the United Nations and under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan, has held an awards ceremony for its Zero Waste Art Competition. The event included the opening of the ‘Story of Waste’ exhibition, which showcases creative works made from recycled materials such as plastic, glass, metal, paper, textile, and wood.

Samed Ağırbaş, President of the Zero Waste Foundation and COP31 High-Level Climate Champion, noted that 1,591 works were submitted for the competition. He highlighted that the recycling rate in Turkey has risen from approximately 10% at the start of the Zero Waste Project to over 35% today, with goals to reach 50% or even 80% in the future.

To address environmental challenges, the Foundation announced plans to host the largest plastic waste workshop in the history of the Republic. The upcoming workshop is expected to involve 17 ministries and more than 400 institutions to discuss solutions for plastic pollution in seas, lakes, and coastal areas.
