Zero Waste Foundation Links Poverty and Climate Justice Ahead of Turkey's COP31

During London Climate Action Week (June 22‑25), the Zero Waste Foundation organised a series of diplomatic meetings aimed at placing hunger, poverty and inequality at the centre of climate action ahead of Turkey’s COP31. President Samed Ağırbaş met finance leaders, city officials and diplomats, rang the opening bell at the London Stock Exchange and launched the COP31 High‑Level Climate Champion Vision Document.

The foundation also announced the Zero Waste Istanbul Platform for Climate Action and highlighted the role of local governments at the Bloomberg Philanthropies Local Climate Action Summit, which featured UN Secretary‑General António Guterres. The week culminated in a Climate Action Agenda roundtable at Buckingham Palace, attended by UN climate chief Simon Stiell, COP30 President André Corrêa do Lago, UK Climate Minister Katie White, former US Vice President Al Gore, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, former Irish President Mary Robinson and high‑profile actors.

The events underscored the Zero Waste Foundation’s push for a practical, inclusive climate agenda that ties the circular economy and climate finance to social justice as the world prepares for COP31 in Turkey.
