Zero Waste Foundation to host plastic pollution workshop in Istanbul

The Zero Waste Foundation will host the ‘Turkey Plastic Cycle Common Intelligence Platform – Sustainable Future in the Plastic Cycle Workshop’ in Istanbul from August 31 to September 1, 2026. Led by the vision of Emine Erdoğan, the event aims to develop policy recommendations and a strategic roadmap to combat plastic pollution in Turkey.

The workshop will adopt a holistic system approach, examining the entire lifecycle of plastics from production and design to consumption, waste management, and recycling. Key topics include microplastics, human health, financing, governance, and international cooperation.

More than 400 participants, including representatives from 17 ministries and over 40 directorates, will participate. The event will feature 15 thematic working groups organized into four main blocks to identify needs, opportunities, and solutions for Turkey’s plastic cycle. Prior to the Istanbul event, coordination meetings will be held in Adana, Mersin, Muğla, and Antalya.
