Zerova and Leapmotor announce new electric vehicle power technologies

Zerova has introduced its Megawatt Charging System (MCS) to the European market, debuting the technology at the IAA Transportation exhibition in Hannover. Designed specifically for high-power electric commercial vehicles, the system can deliver up to 1.44 MW of power to electric trucks and buses. The hardware features a unique architecture where the power electronics and the charging point are physically separated, with the charging station acting as a satellite unit connected to background power cabinets.

In a separate development in automotive architecture, Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor announced it will phase out 12V auxiliary batteries in models arriving from 2027. Utilizing its CTC 3.0 High-Low Fusion technology, the company will integrate low-voltage systems directly into the main battery cells. This LEAP 5.0 architecture aims to eliminate common reliability issues associated with traditional 12V batteries, such as those reported by the German ADAC, by using a 48V energy distribution system and Ethernet communication.
