Zeynal Polat criticizes private school subsidies in earthquake regions

Zeynal Polat has criticized the decision by the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance to provide educational support to certain private school students in earthquake-affected regions. For the 2026-2027 academic year, these subsidies are set to range between 44,906 TL and 52,488 TL.

Polat argued that public resources should be prioritized for public education rather than private institutions. He highlighted that in regions like Adıyaman, thousands of children continue to face significant challenges following the February 6 earthquakes, including poverty, malnutrition, housing shortages, and transportation difficulties.

He emphasized the need for addressing physical inadequacies in schools, the requirement for safe learning environments, and the economic struggles of educators. Polat called for equal opportunity in education, suggesting that state resources should focus on providing free and equal education to all children, including demands for free meals and clean water in schools.
