Zeytinburnu hosts fifth handmade goods event for women producers

The Zeytinburnu Municipality has launched the fifth edition of its ‘El Emeği Günleri’ (Handmade Days) at 15 Temmuz Meydanı. The event, which runs until Sunday, September 27, features 139 women producers showcasing various handmade goods to the public.

To participate, applicants had to meet specific criteria: being a woman, residing in Zeytinburnu for at least one year, not possessing a tax plate, and ensuring all products are strictly handmade. Following an evaluation of 150 applications by a selection committee and experts from the Public Education Directorate, 139 women were granted stall space. This year includes 40 new producers.

The diverse range of products includes hand knitting, handicrafts, jewelry, embroidery, lace, amigurumi, clothing, home textiles, and weaving. Mayor Ömer Arısoy noted that the municipality covers all organization and promotion costs, charging no fees to the participants, with the goal of helping women turn home-based hobbies into economic value.
