Zeytinpark ancient olive trees begin harvest in Antalya

Two ancient olive trees, aged 1,200 and 800 years respectively, are producing fruit at Zeytinpark in Antalya, Turkey. Originally relocated from the Akhisar district of Manisa in 2016 due to road construction, the trees were transported via truck through an initiative led by Ali Çandır, President of the Antalya Commodity Exchange.

After a decade of adaptation to the local climate and soil under engineering supervision, the trees have become a major attraction for visitors. The 1,200-year-old tree is expected to yield approximately 80 to 90 kilograms of olives this year.

Zeytinpark, which houses 12,000 olive trees including varieties such as Tavşan Yüreği, Memecik, Manzanilla, and Ayvalık, expects to produce about 7 tons of olive oil and 3 tons of table olives this season. Ali Çandır noted that the city's overall olive production is expected to reach around 70,000 tons this year.
