Zezé Motta honored by CineSesc with film retrospective

CineSesc is hosting a special film retrospective titled ‘Retrospectiva Brasil: Zezé Motta’ to honor the career of the iconic Brazilian actress and singer. The exhibition revisits her five-decade impact on the audiovisual industry and her role in redefining protagonist identities in Brazil.

The program includes the feature films ‘Xica da Silva’ and ‘Quilombo’, alongside the short films ‘Zezé Motta, La Femme Enchantée’ and ‘Deixa’. The opening event features the documentary ‘Zezé Motta, La Femme Enchantée’, which explores her international artistic projection and her contributions to the fight against racism and the valorization of Black identity.

Following the documentary screening, a debate will be held featuring actresses Brena Maria and Lúcia Gato, moderated by Amanda Drumont. This tribute is part of the lead-up to Sesc’s 80th anniversary in 2026.
