ZF introduces MAXX Uniper brake to meet Euro 7 emission standards

ZF has introduced the MAXX Uniper, a next-generation air disc brake for heavy-duty commercial vehicles, designed to meet upcoming Euro 7 regulatory requirements. The new system addresses non-exhaust emissions, specifically targeting the reduction of brake-particle pollutants.

When paired with a specially coated rotor, the MAXX Uniper can reduce PM10 particle emissions by up to 65% while providing a braking torque of up to 30,000 Nm. The technology is built on ZF’s single-piston air disc brake architecture, which has seen over 12 million units produced to date.

Key features include a bi-directional adjuster to ensure even pad wear, a modular architecture for use across various vehicle platforms, and a simplified carrier and pad system for easier replacement. Additionally, an optional plug-and-play continuous wear sensor can monitor brake conditions without calibration. Mass production is expected to begin in 2027.
