ZF unveils City Bus Assist system at IAA Transportation 2026

At the IAA Transportation trade fair in Hannover (September 14‑20, 2026), German automotive supplier ZF presented its new City Bus Assist solution. The system combines perception sensors with software to provide automated steering assistance that guides a bus precisely along the curb and to lower the suspension automatically at stops, enabling step‑free boarding and improving passenger comfort.

City Bus Assist is part of a broader suite that includes City Bus CMS for detecting vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians to mitigate collisions, and CDC Skyhook, a software‑controlled damper that adapts suspension damping in real time to road conditions. ZF says the integrated technologies boost safety, operational efficiency and total cost of ownership for bus operators. Ivan Brajdic, head of research and development at ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions division, noted that the system delivers “connected system intelligence across advanced driver‑assist, chassis‑control and software functions to support drivers in critical situations, enhance comfort and accessibility, and enable a more efficient fleet operation.”
