ZF unveils MAXX Uniper low-emission pneumatic disc brake

ZF has unveiled the MAXX Uniper, a new generation of pneumatic disc brakes for heavy commercial vehicles, at the IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition. The system is designed to help manufacturers meet upcoming EURO 7 requirements regarding the reduction of brake particle emissions.

When used with a specially coated rotor, the MAXX Uniper can reduce brake particle emissions by up to 65%. The system provides a braking torque of up to 30,000 Nm and features a bidirectional adjustment mechanism to ensure uniform pad wear and reduce the risk of excessive adjustment.

The brake's compact, modular design uses fewer components to improve reliability and ease of maintenance. This architecture allows manufacturers to apply a single brake concept across various global heavy vehicle platforms. Production is scheduled to begin in 2027.
