Zgierz residents face fines for maintaining roadside flower beds

Residents of Kochanowskiego Street in Zgierz are facing potential administrative penalties for maintaining flower beds on the narrow strip of greenery between their fences and the sidewalk. While the residents have cared for these plants for decades, local officials have classified the activity as the unauthorized occupation of a roadway.

Following a report to the municipal guard by a neighbor, patrols have ordered the removal of the plants. Residents who do not comply face fines of 80 PLN per day for every square meter of the occupied roadway. Local officials have described the situation as extremely absurd.
