Özgür Çelik faces investigation by Istanbul prosecutors

Özgür Çelik, the Istanbul Provincial Chairman of the YENİ Parti, is under investigation by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Bureau for Terrorism and Organized Crime. While the specific grounds and allegations for the investigation have not yet been disclosed, Çelik has confirmed the existence of the probe. He stated, “There is an investigation about me, I do not know the subject,” and noted that his lawyers would attempt to review the case details.

Çelik recently made a significant political move by leaving the CHP on July 28 to join the YENİ Parti. This transition included a large portion of the Istanbul provincial leadership, with reports indicating that 39 out of 40 provincial managers and 36 out of 39 district chairmen joined him in the move.
