Özgür Özel pledges free healthcare for retirees in Edirne
Yeni Parti leader Özgür Özel addressed retirees during an event in Edirne for the opening of the ‘Vefa Bahçesi’ social project. Özel pledged that if his party comes to power, healthcare services—including examination fees, pharmacy co-payments, and deductions from pensions—will be made free for retirees at state, university, and family health centers.
Addressing the economic hardships facing Turkey, Özel noted that while economic difficulties affect all sectors, retirees face a particularly severe situation due to declining purchasing power. He highlighted housing and nutrition as primary concerns for the elderly.
Special also criticized the privatization of certain bridges and state highways signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stating that Yeni Parti intends to return these assets to public ownership. He concluded by emphasizing the need to strengthen the social state to support retirees, civil servants, tradespeople, and the middle class.
