Zhang Yiming becomes Asia’s richest person with $105 billion net worth

ByteDance founder Zhang Yiming has become Asia’s richest person, with his net worth surpassing $105 billion according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. This milestone places him ahead of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, whose fortune is estimated at approximately $104.8 billion.

Since March 2019, when Bloomberg first began tracking his wealth at $13 billion, Zhang’s net worth has grown more than eightfold. This rapid accumulation is attributed to the global expansion of TikTok and ByteDance’s significant investments in artificial intelligence, including the chatbot Doubao and the video-generation model Seedance.

Recent valuation updates from investment firms such as BlackRock, Fidelity Investments, and T. Rowe Price have contributed to the increase in his estimated wealth. Zhang, 43, founded ByteDance in 2012, creating major platforms including Douyin and TikTok.
