Zhao Jinmai and Wei Daxun star in new workplace drama Irreplaceable

The urban workplace drama “Irreplaceable” is scheduled to premiere on the Youku streaming platform on September 28. Starring Zhao Jinmai and Wei Daxun, the series focuses on the highly competitive consulting industry.

The plot follows Xu Chi (played by Zhao Jinmai), a graduate from an ordinary university who enters the consulting field with a determination to never be replaced. She encounters Ye Xinzhi (played by Wei Daxun), an elite partner who maintains a gentle exterior while secretly executing a long-term revenge plan. The narrative explores their evolving relationship from mentor and apprentice to rivals and eventual partners.

To achieve realism, the production team interviewed employees from top consulting firms to depict authentic workplace challenges, such as academic discrimination and professional competition. Zhao Jinmai reportedly underwent physical changes, including cutting her hair and reducing her body fat percentage, to portray the character’s ambitious and capable nature.
