Zhelyo Zhelev: Local figure in Stamboliyski known for community service

Zhelyo Zhelev, a resident of Stamboliyski, Bulgaria, has gained local recognition for his extensive community support and history of involvement in national politics. His name is nearly identical to former Bulgarian President Zhelyu Zhelev, a connection rooted in Zhelev's past participation in the former president's election campaign during the 1990s.

Zhelev also shared personal connections with former President Petar Stoyanov, bonded by their mutual support for the Botev Plovdiv football club. In his local community, residents describe him as a selfless individual who provides elderly citizens with food, medication, and daily assistance without seeking profit.

Separately, election officials in Plovdiv reported that voting proceeded without major issues. While some members of local election commissions failed to appear for their shifts, officials stated that replacements were made and the absences did not hinder the voting process.
