Zheng Qinwen advances to China Open round of 32

Chinese tennis player Zheng Qinwen has advanced to the round of 32 at the China Open following victories over Shi Han and Anna Kalinskaya. Zheng defeated Shi 7-6, 4-6, 6-2, and progressed against Kalinskaya after her opponent retired while trailing 6-7, 6-4, 3-0.

During a post-match press conference, Zheng stated that winning a Grand Slam remains her primary goal, noting, “There is no doubt for me, always a Grand Slam, because it has been a dream since I was a child.”

With these wins, Zheng has secured a return to the top 50 in the WTA rankings. She is scheduled to face the 18th seed, Marie Bouzkova, in her next match. Despite recent health challenges, including a cold and nasal inflammation, Zheng aims to improve her standing further before the Australian Open.
