Zhengzhou railway hub exceeds 2,200 China‑Europe freight trains in 2026
The China Railway Zhengzhou Bureau reported that a total of 2,200 China‑Europe freight trains departed from Zhengzhou in 2026, a 25.9% increase over the same period in 2025. The cumulative number of trains operated since the service began has reached 18,250, transporting more than 53 product categories and serving over 8,000 overseas enterprises.
High‑value goods such as new‑energy vehicles, engineering robots and precision equipment now dominate the cargo mix, marking a shift from low‑value bulk items to advanced manufacturing exports. Infrastructure upgrades at the Puti logistics base, including a 4,000 sqm container repair area and an 80,000 sqm yard, have raised the daily handling capacity from 10 to 14 trains. The bureau aims to strengthen the rail corridor as a core component of the Belt and Road Initiative, enhancing cross‑border logistics and supporting regional industrial clustering.
Officials cited the development as a boost to inland open‑door policies, positioning central China as a forward logistics hub that links Asian and European markets with stable, low‑cost rail transport.
