Záhlinice ponds host rare trio of swan species

Three different species of swans, including the common Mute swan, the rare Whooper swan, and a Black swan, have been spotted at the Záhlinice ponds in the Kroměříž region of the Czech Republic. Ornithologists describe this occurrence as a rarity.

Jiří Šafránek of the Moravian Ornithological Society noted that while Mute swans are common in the area, the Whooper swan is a rare visitor typically seen only during spring or autumn migration. The Black swan, which is not native to the region, is believed to have escaped from a private breeder or a zoo. Experts expressed hope that the owner of the Black swan will be located, as the bird may struggle to survive the winter in the wild.
