Zhongpu Police arrest man for Molotov cocktail attack on neighbor

A man surnamed Chen was arrested in Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, after allegedly using homemade Molotov cocktails to attack a neighbor's residence in the early hours of August 31.

According to the Zhongpu Police Precinct, Chen purchased glass bottles and gasoline to manufacture two incendiary devices. At approximately 4:30 a.m., he ignited and threw one device at a second-floor awning, causing scorch marks, while the second was placed on a first-floor lawn. The suspect claimed he acted because he believed he heard a woman crying for help and wanted to force the neighbors to open their door.

Police apprehended the suspect within four minutes of the report. No injuries or major fires were reported. Chen, who reportedly has a history involving drugs and firearms, faces charges of public danger and infringement of liberty. Authorities are seeking detention and have activated protective mechanisms to prevent recidivism.
