Zhu Bei City extends library hours via Starry Night Project

Zhu Bei Mayor Cheng Chao-fang has announced the continuation of the ‘Starry Night Project’ throughout September. Starting September 5, the Fude Branch of the Zhu Bei City Library will extend its operating hours every Saturday until midnight to accommodate the high demand for nighttime reading.

Since its reopening on July 3, the Fude Branch has seen a significant surge in visitors. Daily attendance has risen from an average of approximately 300 people prior to its renovation to an average of 1,500 people, with weekend figures reaching nearly 2,000 and single-day peaks exceeding 2,500.

The library features a unique ‘Scent Library’ that uses active olfactory experiences to complement reading, offering various themed scents including local city memories and tea series. Additionally, the city is preparing for the official opening of the Zhu Bei City Main Library, which is expected to debut in October.
