Zhu Bei completes LED street lighting upgrade in HSR Special Zone

Zhu Bei Mayor Zheng Chao-fang has announced the completion of the LED street lighting upgrade project within the High Speed Rail (HSR) Special Zone. This initiative, titled ‘Lighting Up Zhu Bei’, aims to modernize the city's infrastructure to match its rapid urban development.

The project was executed in two phases. The first phase involved replacing over 1,000 traditional sodium lamps on major thoroughfares. The second phase expanded into community streets and alleys in areas including Jiafeng, Jiazheng, Aikou, and Jiajia, replacing approximately 700 older lamps with high-efficiency LED lighting.

According to the city government, the upgrade addresses issues with aging infrastructure, as some sodium lamps had been in use for over 20 years, leading to high electricity consumption and decreased brightness. The new LED system is calibrated to road width and traffic flow to enhance safety, improve visibility for increasing nighttime pedestrian and vehicle traffic, and reduce energy costs. Following the completion of the HSR Special Zone, the city plans to extend the lighting replacement program to other urban areas.
