Zhu Bei Mayor Cheng Chao-fang faces allegations of family interference

Allegations have surfaced regarding the involvement of Cheng Chao-han, the brother of Zhu Bei Mayor Cheng Chao-fang, in municipal affairs. Former aide Chang Yi-hao claimed that Cheng Chao-han exerted pressure and used verbal abuse, including insults, when staff members attempted to follow official mayoral stances.

Candidate Chen Kuan-yu further alleged that Cheng Chao-han utilized a private corrugated iron building in Zhu Bei as a “secret base” for discussing affairs and storing imported vehicles. Chen also claimed that Cheng Chao-han had failed to pay an employee's wages for nearly two years, a matter that reportedly required the intervention of former Hsinchu County Magistrate Cheng Yung-chin to resolve.

In response to these claims, the Cheng Chao-fang camp stated that all administrative procedures are conducted according to the law and suggested that his administration's achievements serve as the answer to criticisms. Meanwhile, political opponents have questioned whether non-official family members are improperly influencing municipal decisions and engineering projects.
