Ziaul Ahsan appears virtually for crimes against humanity trial
Dismissed military officer Ziaul Ahsan appeared virtually from prison for a hearing at the International Crimes Tribunal-1 in Dhaka. The proceedings involve charges of crimes against humanity, including the disappearance and killing of over one hundred individuals during the previous Awami League administration.
The tribunal, led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, ordered that Ahsan be allowed to participate via video link. To facilitate legal consultation during the cross-examination of investigation officer Md. Rafiqul Islam, the court ruled that both Ahsan and his lawyer would be permitted to use mobile phones during the session.
Ahsan is also an accused in a separate case regarding killings during a protest at Shapla Chattar.
