Zico documentary to make Brazilian television debut

The documentary “Zico, o Samurai de Quintino,” directed by João Wainer, is set to make its Brazilian television debut on Sportv this Friday, August 14, at 21:30. The film will also be available on the streaming platform Globoplay starting the same day.

Following a successful theatrical run that drew over 65,000 viewers, the documentary explores the life and career of Arthur Antunes Coimbra, known as Zico. Using previously unreleased personal archival material, the film examines his journey as an icon for Flamengo, the Brazilian national team, and Japanese football.

The production features appearances by figures such as Ronaldo Fenômeno, Júnior, Carpegiani, and Carlos Alberto Parreira. It highlights the “Spirit of Zico,” a persona shaped by his upbringing in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro and his significant professional impact in Japan, where he played for Kashima Antlers and later coached the national team.
