Zidarovo Mayor reports escalating vandalism and police inaction

Hristo Bardukov, the mayor of Zidarovo, a village in the Sozopol municipality, has raised alarms regarding escalating vandalism, aggression, and dangerous driving within the community. Bardukov released video footage showing individuals destroying property, including overturning tables and chairs and breaking surveillance cameras.

The mayor criticized the local police response, alleging that the perpetrators appear to operate with a sense of impunity. He claimed that after he reported the incidents to the 112 emergency line, one of the vandals received a phone call warning them that a report had been made, prompting the group to increase their destructive behavior and flee on motor vehicles.

Bardukov noted that while the individuals involved were briefly detained and issued citations, the material damage remains unrepaired. He expressed concern that the current institutional reaction is insufficient to prevent more serious conflicts or potential tragedies involving intoxicated or drugged individuals operating vehicles illegally.
