Zielona Góra: 13-year-old scooter rider hospitalized after car collision

A 13-year-old boy on an electric scooter was hospitalized after colliding with a Renault in Zielona Góra. The incident occurred on September 22 at Osiedle Pomorskie when the teenager failed to yield the right of way. Although the boy was wearing a mandatory helmet and possessed the necessary permits, the collision highlights growing safety concerns regarding personal mobility devices.

Police in Zielona Góra have recorded 19 road incidents involving electric scooters since the beginning of 2026, with 13 of those cases involving the scooter operators as the responsible parties.

Regulations for electric scooter users include a speed limit of 20 km/h and strict prohibitions against carrying passengers, animals, or objects, as well as operating under the influence of alcohol. Since June 3, 2026, users under the age of 16 are required to wear protective helmets. Users aged 13 to 18 must hold appropriate qualifications, such as a bicycle card or specific driving licenses.
