Zielona Góra approves development plan for former Zastal factory site
The Zielona Góra City Council has unanimously approved the commencement of a local spatial development plan for the former Zastal factory site. The approximately 38-hectare post-industrial area, located between Ludowa and Sulechowska streets, is intended to be repurposed for residential housing, services, and recreation.
Mayor Marcin Pabierowski stated that the city aims to design an optimal layout that includes multi-family housing, greenery, and sports facilities. While the land is privately owned, the city intends to regulate its use through this plan. Officials are also conducting traffic capacity analyses to ensure the infrastructure can support the new developments.
Due to the site's proximity to the Gęśnik Valley and the presence of buildings under conservation protection, the development will need to balance historical preservation with modern urban needs. The planning process is expected to continue until 2027.
