Zihni Serhan Diyarbakırlı resigns as AK Party Kilis Chairman

Zihni Serhan Diyarbakırlı, the AK Party Kilis Provincial Chairman, has resigned from his position following the circulation of a controversial six-minute audio recording on social media.

The recording allegedly features a conversation between Diyarbakırlı and a woman who had been reassigned from her post at a hospital and was requesting to return to her former position. In the recording, the male voice reportedly asks questions such as “How will you convince me?” and “Are you home alone right now?”.

Diyarbakırlı has denied the authenticity of the recording, claiming it is a “montage” that has been taken out of context. He stated that he has initiated legal proceedings against those responsible for spreading the content. He emphasized that his resignation is not an admission of guilt or a retreat, but a decision made to protect the reputation of the AK Party and prevent the political organization from being drawn into the controversy. He reaffirmed his continued loyalty to the party and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
