ZimaOS and Nocs Provisions announce new photography tools

ZimaOS has launched version 1.8, which introduces ZimaOS Photos, a design-focused, self-hosted photo library intended to provide a private alternative to cloud-based storage services. The system features an immersive browsing experience with Year, Month, and Day views, alongside search capabilities that allow users to find images by describing scenes. The update includes an enhanced mobile experience via the Zima Client app, offering automatic photo backups and integration with iPhone’s Dynamic Island to show progress.

Separately, California-based Nocs Provisions has released the Portal AFN7, a rugged, screen-free adventure camera designed for outdoor use. Priced at $179.95, the device lacks a rear playback screen to encourage spontaneous photography without digital distraction. It features a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, 4K video capabilities, and six film-inspired color presets. The camera is built with ToughWave™ Armour and IP56 weather resistance, weighing approximately 140 grams.
