Zimbabwe Football Association unveils Ramon Catala to lead Warriors
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has unveiled a new technical team for the Warriors, led by Spanish coach Ramon Catala. The appointment is part of the ‘Dream 2030’ programme, an ambitious restructuring initiative aimed at creating an integrated development pathway from the Under-15 level through to the senior national teams.
Catala, a UEFA Pro Licence holder with extensive experience in Europe, Africa, and Asia, will be supported by Spanish assistants Marc Sanchez and Vicente Girona Izquierdo. The goal of the new technical direction is to move away from operating national teams as separate entities and instead establish one interconnected system.
While ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi previously remained cautious regarding coaching rumors, the appointment marks a significant shift for the national sides as they prepare for upcoming AFCON qualifiers and long-term goals for the 2027 AFCON and 2030 World Cup cycles.
