Zimbabwe Gold Mining Accelerates with Satellite Targeting and MIF Expansion

A satellite‑based geoscience workflow mapped an estimated 8,662 troy ounces of gold across ten anomaly zones in a Zimbabwe concession, delivering a drill‑ready plan without any ground work. The analysis, covering 327 ha and narrowing prospects to a 45.8‑ha footprint, demonstrates how space‑based data can cut exploration costs and time.

The Zimbabwean Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development praised the Mutapa Investment Fund’s (MIF) restructuring strategy that has boosted gold output. Mutapa Gold Resources, a MIF subsidiary, is targeting an increase in monthly production from around 300‑310 kg to 570‑600 kg by year‑end, aiming for an annual total of 3,400 kg. The company reported 921 kg in Q1 and 925 kg in Q2 of 2026, totalling 1,826 kg for the first half of the year. The minister also warned against gold smuggling, emphasizing the metal’s importance to Zimbabwe’s currency.
