Zimbabwe National Army soldiers killed in Harare-Mutare road crash

Four members of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) were killed and three others injured in a vehicle crash along the Harare–Mutare Road on Friday, August 7. The soldiers were traveling from Harare to Mutare in a BAW military vehicle when the accident occurred near the 45-kilometer peg in Bromley, near Marondera.

The deceased have been identified as Warrant Officer Class 1 Philimon Chamisa, Warrant Officer Class 2 Chindowa Lydia, Sergeant Mundicho Wellington Wonder, and Lance Corporal Mupemhi Edmore. The three injured soldiers were treated at Marondera District Hospital and 2 Referral Hospital at Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks; they are reported to be in stable condition.

The ZNA issued a statement expressing condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and stating that burial arrangements will be announced later. The Zimbabwe Republic Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the crash.
