Zimbabwe President Mnangagwa announces key appointments and potential Cabinet reshuffle
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced several key appointments to government and constitutional commissions in Zimbabwe. New leadership roles include Anele Ndebele as Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission and Dr. Leslie Ncube as Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Gender Commission. In the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti has been appointed as Permanent Secretary.
Additional appointments to the Zimbabwe Land Commission include Professor Mandivamba Rukuni as Deputy Chairperson, alongside commissioners Dr. John Basera and Dr. Mabel Ndakaripa-Hungwe. Sheuneni Kurasha has been named a Commissioner of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
Parallel to these appointments, reports indicate a potential Cabinet reshuffle is imminent. This anticipated shake-up follows internal pressure within the Zanu PF party to address perceived disloyalty among officials. Specifically, 14 Members of Parliament who did not vote for Constitutional Amendment Act Number 3 (CAA3) are reportedly facing disciplinary action, which may include dismissal from government positions.
