Zimbabwe Warriors lose 2-1 to DR Congo in AFCON qualifier

The Zimbabwe Warriors suffered a 2-1 defeat against DR Congo in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the National Sports Stadium. The loss serves as a setback for Zimbabwe in Group E, leaving them in second place with three points, while DR Congo moved to the top of the group with six points.

DR Congo established dominance early in the match. Yoane Wissa opened the scoring in the 30th minute after Zimbabwe goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze struggled to handle a cross. Before the half-time break, Samuel Moutoussamy doubled the lead for the visitors following an assist from Wissa.

Despite several attempts to equalize from players such as Thando Ngwenya and Marshall Munetsi, the Warriors were unable to convert their chances. Head coach Roman Catala attributed the loss to limited preparation time, noting that the Congolese side has benefited from playing together for several years.
