Zimbabwean fossils reveal new sauropodomorph dinosaur species

Paleontologists have identified a new sauropodomorph dinosaur species, Musango matusadonaensis, discovered in Zimbabwe. The incomplete skeleton was recovered from the banks of the Nyamasango River near Musango Island.

Anatomical analysis indicates the dinosaur was bipedal, measuring approximately 4.5 meters in length and weighing 220 kilograms. Bone growth marks suggest the specimen was a subadult at the time of death. While the lack of a preserved skull means its specific diet remains unknown, researchers note that its close relatives were primarily herbivorous.
