Zimbabwean police arrest suspects in multi-million dollar robberies and staged theft
Zimbabwean authorities have arrested several suspects in connection with high-value armed robberies and a staged theft.
In one case, the Zimbabwe Republic Police arrested 39-year-old Tendai Nzvenga in Bulawayo. He is allegedly linked to three separate armed robberies in Harare and Kwekwe involving cash and valuables totaling more than US$1.2 million. The robberies targeted a shop in Graniteside, a residence in Marlborough, and a cement company in Redcliff. Two other suspects, Dingani Mpofu and Witness Hlongwane, have also been remanded in custody.
In a separate incident in Harare, police arrested Beauty Muzvondiwa, 32, and three accomplices for allegedly staging an armed robbery to steal US$30,000 from her husband. Investigators discovered the home invasion was fabricated after recovering US$20,450 in cash and household items. The suspects face charges of theft and making false reports.
