Zimbabwean religious organizations elect new leadership

Major religious organizations in Zimbabwe have elected new leadership teams during recent assemblies.

The Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) held its 34th Synod Assembly at Chibi Mission, electing a new Moderamen. Rev Dr Ezekiel Baloyi has been elected as Moderator, a position that also carries the role of Chancellor of the Reformed Church University. Other newly elected officials include Rev Dr Simbarashe Munamati as Vice Moderator and Rev Lovemore Mashamba as General Secretary. The leadership structure utilizes staggered terms to ensure institutional continuity.

Separately, the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) concluded its 48th Biennial General Assembly. The ZCC's new Presidium will be led by President Bishop Kenneth Sibanda of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe Central Diocese, with Bishop Gift Kudakwashe Machinga of the United Methodist Church serving as Vice President. The assembly focused on renewal and strengthening the organization's role within the ecumenical movement.
