Zimmer Biomet and THINK Surgical extend robotic distribution deal

Zimmer Biomet Holdings, Inc. and THINK Surgical, Inc. have announced a multi-year extension of their Limited Exclusive Distribution and Supply Agreement. The renewal focuses on the TMINI Miniature Robotic System, a wireless, handheld orthopedic robot developed by THINK Surgical.

Under the terms of the extension, Zimmer Biomet will continue to distribute an exclusive version of the TMINI system that is specifically compatible with its Persona Knee System. This arrangement allows Zimmer Biomet to offer a specialized robotic ecosystem to orthopedic surgeons while maintaining a competitive edge against rivals like Stryker.

While THINK Surgical markets its robotic platforms as open systems compatible with various implant brands, this specific exclusivity applies only to the pairing of the TMINI system with Zimmer Biomet’s Persona implants. Following the announcement, Zimmer Biomet shares saw a 1.45% increase.
