Zinacantepec discovers major underground water source
The municipal government of Zinacantepec has announced the discovery of a significant underground water source during the drilling of new wells in the Municipal Headquarters and the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood. According to Iván Saucedo Sánchez, head of OPDAPAS, drilling at the Municipal Headquarters has reached nearly 100 percent of its 300-meter target depth. Technical processes for the Emiliano Zapata site are expected to conclude by the end of the year, with both infrastructures slated to be operational by December.
In conjunction with these water projects, Mayor Manuel Vilchis Viveros has launched a tax regularization campaign for domestic taxpayers with debts ranging from 2021 to 2026. Running from October 1 to December 31, the program offers up to a 30 percent discount on principal debts and a 100 percent waiver on legal fees. This initiative aims to address a delinquency rate of 35.19 percent in fixed fees and 1.49 percent in measured service.
Additionally, the administration has highlighted ongoing urban infrastructure improvements, including the delivery of new paving works in the San Luis Mextepec community. The local government stated these projects are part of a broader strategy to improve drainage, electrification, and educational infrastructure across various municipalities.
